One of the easiest ways to personalize your BlackBerry smartphone is change the default sound profiles and alerts. These instructions apply to any BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry 6. Modify and change the alert sound and profiles when using BlackBerry 6 is very easy. All you need do is tap the speaker icon appears in the upper left corner of the screen, or select the Sounds & Alerts icon of profiles in the main screen.
When it comes to sounds and alert profiles, BlackBerry includes a total of seven profiles by default: - Normal, High, Medium, Vibrate Only, Silent, telephone calls and alerts only All disabled. Within these profiles, you can specify any audio file that is stored in memory on the BlackBerry smartphone or multimedia card.
By default, some of these profiles are based on the settings in the normal sound profile. - To change the ringtone, click Telephone.

- Click on a tone.

- Press the Menu key and select Save.
How to add a custom sound and Alerts Profile
- In the main screen, select the Sounds icon and alert profiles.
- Select Change Sounds & Alerts>> Add profile management profiles.
- In the Name field, type a name for the new profile.
- Select the item you want to change.
- Change your ringtone, notifier, or reminder information.
- Press the Menu key and select Save.
To delete a custom profile, select it, press the Menu key and select Delete.
Adding a New Contact Alert
- In the main screen, select the Sounds icon and alert profiles.
- Select Change Sounds Sounds and Alerts> Contact> Add Contact Alert.
- In the Name field, type the name of the contact alert.
- In the field of contacts, type the contact name.
- Select a contact.
- Change the tone and warning information for calls and messages.
- Press the Menu button and select Save.
To delete a contact alert, select it, press the Menu key and select Delete. As you can see, the customization of sounds and alerts profiling is simple, and allows you to personalize your BlackBerry smartphone.
